Today I've accepted The Hecht Prize for a Manuscript of The Herzl Institute for the Study of Zionism, University of Haifa. A prize for a book was given to Prof. Alon Kadish. My research compares the films and newsletters of American Jewish organizations and Eretz-Israeli organizations from 1945-1948 – the peak years of the Zionist struggle for a Jewish State. I thank Prof. Maoz Azaryahu, the prize committee and Carolina Sponberg-Inbar. In the ceremony I had a wonderful chance to meet Dr. Yitzhak Arad who told us a bit about his life– a Holocaust survivor, Partisan, brigadier general and chief education officer General in the IDF, historian and the former chair of Yad vaShem. A man greater than life. So, I had to hug him…
זכיתי בפרס הכט של מכון הרצל לחקר הציונות באוניברסיטת חיפה על כתב היד "טראומה אחת, שתי פרספקטיבות, שלוש שנים". פרס על ספר שהתפרסם ניתן לפרופ' אלון קדיש. המחקר שלי בוחן היבטים של שואה ותקומה בתעמולה הארץ-ישראלית והיהודית-אמריקנית ערב הקמת המדינה. אני רוצה להודות לפרופ' מעוז עזריהו, לועדת הפרס ולקרולינה ספונברג-ענבר. בטקס זכיתי לפגוש את ד"ר יצחק ארד: ניצול שואה, פרטיזן, תת אלוף וקצין חיוך ראשי בצה"ל, היסטוריון ויו"ר יד ושם משנות השבעים עד אמצע שנות התשעים. אדם גדול מהחיים שהייתי חייבת דחוף לחבק.
