Yesterday I was interviewed with Prof. Israel Bartal and Prof. Dina Porat in Itzhak Noy’s radio program “Shabat Olamit”. We argued about the ISF Report: “Holocaust Studies in Israel”. I turned against the Report’s division of Holocaust Studies into three separate areas of research and teaching (The Holocaust, Ideological-Historical Context and Holocaust Memory and representations), the latent dismissal of the Holocaust Memory and representation reserach and the perception that there isn’t any worthy research on the influence of the Holocaust on the Israeli society.
אתמול התראיינתי בתכנית הרדיו של יצחק נוי "שבת עולמית" יחד עם פרופ' ישראל ברטל ופרופ' דינה פורת. התווכחנו על הדו"ח של האקדמיה הלאומית הישראלית למדעים "מצב תחום לימודי השואה באוניברסיטאות המחקר ובמכללות בישראל". אני יצאתי נגד החלוקה, השגויה לטעמי, בדוח של תחום לימודי השואה למה שהוועדה הגדירה "שלושה תחומי פעילות נפרדים" (חקר השואה, הקשרים אידיאולוגים ומחקר זכרון השואה), הזלזול הלטנטי במחקר זכרון השואה וכן כנגד התפיסה שאין מחקר ראוי על השפעת השואה על החברה הישראלית
