My new book was just published!
The book One Trauma, Two Perspectives, Three Years, analyzes the representations of the Holocaust and Holocaust survivors in films and newsletters produced and published by prominent Jewish organizations in the US and Eretz-Israel. The book shows that even though the organizations in both places dealt with the same subjects –the difference in countries in which they operated, and their different immediate goals and agendas prompted them to construct two different (at times even opposing) narratives.
I thank the Herzl institute for the Study of Zionism, Haifa University for granting me the Hecht prize for the manuscript and for publishing the book.
הספר החדש שלי יצא לאור! הספר "טראומה אחת, שתי פרספקטיבות, שלוש שנים" מנתח את ייצוג השואה וניצולי השואה בקולנוע ובעיתונות של ארגונים יהודיים בארץ-ישראל ובארצות הברית בשנות הארבעים.הספר מראה כי על אף העובדה שהארגונים בארץ-ישראל וגם בארצות הברית פעלו תחת המטריה הציונית עבור מטרות דומות ופנו לאותו קהל יעד, התרבויות השונות בהן התנהלו והאינטרסים הספציפים שלהם הביא אותם לבנות ייצוגים אחרים, לעיתים מנוגדים לחלוטין, של האירועים ההיסטוריים. תודה לפרופ' מעוז עזריהו ולמוסד הרצל לחקר הציונות באוניברסיטת חיפה שהעניקו לי את פרס הכט על הטיוטה והוציאו לאור את הספר.
