Vienna in December. Unbelievable cold, amazing beauty. I gave a talk at the 2nd Global Conference, Migrations and Diasporas: incorporating Cultural Diversity as a special focus strand. Scholars from all over the world discussing various aspects of immigration. I’ve attended the Simon Wiesenthal Center, where I’ve learned a bit more about this outstanding Holocaust survivor, who, in his words, ruined his personal life because of his profession. And since I have a Christmas markets’ fetish I’ve visited many of them…
וינה בדצמבר. קור מקפיא. יופי מהמם: הכל מקושט ומושלג ושווקי חג המולד שאני כל כך אוהבת נוצצים ומוארים. הרציתי בכנס: Migrations and Diasporas: incorporating Cultural Diversity as a special focus strand. חוקרים מכל העולם התכנסו כדי לדון באספקטים שונים של הגירה. הלכתי לבקר במרכז שמעון ויזנטל ולמדתי עוד על ניצול השואה המדהים הזה המכונה "צייד הנאצים", שהרס את חייו הפרטיים בשל המקצוע, שעבורו הפך לשליחות. נזכרתי בבושה רבה איך כאשר הוא הובא למנוחות בישראל אף שר/ה לא טרחו להגיע.
